Where Are They Now - Carla Boom Boom Alvarez

Continued from The Hanging Poker Tournament and Where Are They Now - Mary Anne Dent

Carla Alvarez got her start in South American non-fatal hanging poker tournaments. These tournaments are found in some countries that do not allow the widely popular hang until dead tournaments. Loser simply hang until they pass out. Carla became know by the nickname Boom Boom because of her wild but usually very effective style of poker.

She decided to come to the USA and try her luck in the big time hanging poker tournaments. She easily defeated another new player to take home the million dollar prize.

Boom Boom became famous in the tabloids and celebrity pages for wild parties and vacations at luxury resorts. This lavish life style quickly ran through all of her winnings and she was almost broke again.

When a Japanese business man called with a proposal for a hanging poker tournament with a $10 million prize, Boom Boom was very interested. The business man's idea was to have an elimination tournament where all the players except the winner are hanged and then the winner would play Boom Boom one on one for the $10 million prize. Elimination tournaments like this, while legal in most countries including Japan, are insanely suicidal and quality players are simply not interested. The one on one format is almost universal. The business man's plan was to market the event world wide. He hoped to get 3 or 4 quality players with no prior hanging poker experience for the elimination tournament.

Clara quickly agreed to the proposal. Much to everyone's surprise hundreds of women applied for the elimination tournament. After a careful selection process that apparently had nothing to do with how well they played poker, twelve contestants were selected for the elimination tournament.

The tournament was played at an old Japanese temple. To speed up the elimination tournament it was decided the stripping part would be played in bikinis, but the final one on one match with Boom Boom would be with the usual five items of clothing.

Given how little the players knew about poker, it did not take long for the hangings to start.

The other players enjoyed the hangings too, at least the ones not too shy to come out of the temple partially naked to watch. There were of course monitors inside where they could watch the world wide live TV images.

These players were amateurs who had never seen a dead woman before.

The elimination tournament was very basic strip poker. Worst hand removed one piece of clothes or was hanged if the player had no clothes left. Player with the best poker hand got to hang a player eliminated on the hand.

Sometimes the amateurs did not get the noose in the correct position, resulting in some unusual hangings.

As the tournament went on, the players doing the hanging could already be naked..

Which means they could be the next to hang.

All the players were given the opportunity to voluntarily step off the bench, but a few needed some help. Since this was a sanctioned tournament, it was perfectly legal to push them off. Giving players the opportunity to step off on their own is a professional courtesy.

As the tournament drew closer to conclusion there were players hanged after most hands.

Boom Boom enjoyed all the hangings.

Most of the losing players continued to do the honorable thing and step off the bench on their own.

Boom Boom showed no mercy for the losers, of course mercy was not an option in this tournament.

With the elimination round is down to 3 naked players, every hand hangs someone.

And now we have the last player eliminated.

There she goes stepping off.

Fenfang Hsu is the winner of the elimination round and will challenge Boom Boom for the $10 million grand prize. Fenfang seems to play an aggressive style of poker similar to Boom Boom, but can she hope to beat a professional?

Fenfang did defeat Boom Boom with her crazy play and Boom Boom is not happy about it.

Fenfang responded to Boom Boom criticism of her play by pointing out who has the noose around her neck.

Fenfang got tired of Boom Boom complaining about her horrible poker play.

This is all perfectly legal, there is no requirement to let the loser hang herself. It is only a courtesy.

Fenfang enjoyed watching Boom Boom meet her fate.

Fenfang gave Boom Boom a final lecture on bluffing in poker although she would not get a chance to apply any of the ideas.

Fenfang Hsu was the winner of the $10 million prize having defeated eleven other players in the elimination tournament and ended Boom Boom's professional career.

After the tournament was over, many of the women who applied for the elimination tournament but were not selected for the final twelve got a chance to talk with the winner and admire the losers courage.

The TV ratings for this tournament on the Snuff cable network were the highest ever recorded for hanging poker.

Though only armatures, the losers made this a spectacular tournament with unique hangings.

The players in this tournament understood they faced long odds and most of them would end up hanging naked for the Snuff TV audience.

The body count in this tournament was one of the features that made it so popular, but the armature status of the players was a big factor too.

Boom Boom was a popular player but everyone recognized that with her life style it was inevitable that she would meet her fate this way.

  1. I think I said this when you still had this on your DA but this is probably still my all time favourite hanging story.
